Massey Homes is a provider of Out-of-Territory Residential Care Services for Nunavut children, youth, adults and elders with short and long-term medical conditions who require 24/7 personalized care. We operate 2 homes. One is for children and the other is for adults.
Massey Homes are owned and operated by husband and wife team, Steve and Jackie Massey.
We strive to provide a warm, home-like environment for Nunavut residents. Like our clients' homes up North, our accommodations are actual homes, not hotels or “facilities”. They have all the amenities of home; kitchens, living room areas, front and backyards with beautiful green spaces to sit and chat with friends. Our homes are in a beautiful safe area in Winnipeg where residents can go for long peaceful walks. They are also located on a fantastic bus route with only having to take 1 bus to shopping centres, downtown and the Kivalliq Inuit Centre.
Massey Homes are handicapped accessible and equipped with a full range of features and services designed to make the client’s stay as comfortable and convenient as possible and are staffed with certified, qualified health and child care professionals. Our minimum staff to client ratio is 2 staff to every 3 clients on every shift. The homes are equipped to care for clients with mobility issues and have wheelchair ramps, tracked ceiling lifts for lifting/transferring clients, raised bath tubs and a wheelchair bus equipped to transport up to 5 wheelchair and 4 regular seated clients.

References
“Steve - and Jackie have had a lifetime of experience caring for children and adults with a variety of physical and intellectual challenges. They are compassionate and dedicated in their belief that individuals such as these have the right to a full and rich life. Most of the individuals that Steve and Jackie have cared for have been from the Inuit culture, and over the years they have both gained an understanding and respect for this unique culture. They are both very much aware of the importance of culture, and as foster parents would be committed to helping a child remain connected to his or her cultural traditions.”
